High-End Car Auction Platform

The Challenge
Gooding & Company required a digital transformation to help the prestigious brand evolve and, additionally, keep the brand afloat during uncertain times. Their industry, like many others, is rapidly shifting online with new auction formats that catered to the remote nature of their clients, and they needed to evolve to meet their customers where they are. Sidebench designed and developed their first high-end online car auction platform.
The Outcome
- Sidebench designed and built a new website from the ground up in just 3.5 months. The new site prioritized interoperability and provided users a searching/filtering experience analogous to AirBnb.
- We built an integration with a third-party online auction platform that allowed the business to host auctions online and enabled users to make bids in real time from the convenience of their homes.
- We expanded the auction format to include memorabilia sales - lower in dollar value but significantly higher quantities; hundreds of lots compared to the usual 50-75 vehicles at a normal live auction.
“Users would hear about the product, download it, and then say “what am I supposed to do?”. On the surface, it was an onboarding problem, but we quickly realized it was much more than that. We overhauled each feature and the entire workflow, navigation, and interface design in order to create an intuitive experience.”
